|AXA AFFIN’s fundraising campaign raised almost RM70,000 collectively.|
As the country enter the recovery phase of COVID-19 pandemic, the number of cases in Malaysia have stabilized at a two-digit and below trend with high recovery rates. However, the scarcity of personal protective equipment (PPE) is still a problem faced by healthcare workers combatting COVID-19.
Committed to continuously support the battle against the pandemic, AXA AFFIN Life Insurance Berhad donated more than 15,000 PPE items for medical personnel to keep them safe against the virus as they put their lives on the line to protect others. The PPE items were distributed to three designated hospitals which serve as main treatment centres to handle the COVID outbreak – Hospital Sungai Buloh, Hospital Kuala Lumpur and University of Malaya Medical Centre, in accordance to the needs of each hospital.
AXA AFFIN started its crowdfunding campaign in mid-April till May, namely – AXA AFFIN “Smash the Curve” COVID-19 Fund Raising Campaign, as part of its Corporate Responsibility programme. This campaign has raised close to RM70,000 collectively from the generous public as well as AXA AFFIN, its employees and agents. Among the much-needed personal protective equipment donated to the hospitals, expending from the fund, were N95 masks, CPE Gown, disposable shoe cover and nursing cap, etc.
“Over the past 3 months, we have witnessed how our courageous frontliners have been working intensely in battling COVID-19 to keep our country and people safe. Thanks to all their unwavering commitment and sacrifices as well as the citizen’s support, Malaysia has seen to successfully control the spread and flatten the pandemic curve. We are honored to be able to play a part together with our generous fellow Malaysians in protecting our healthcare frontliners through their fight against the deadly virus,” expressed Rohit Nambiar, Chief Executive Officer of AXA AFFIN Life Insurance.
In response to the pandemic threat, AXA AFFIN has also proactively extended protection and measures for the impacted groups. Collaborating with local healthtech partners, AXA AFFIN offers customers complimentary COVID-19 assistance* measures from online consultation services with specialist doctors, fitness coaches, nutritionists to psychologists on mental health support to help customers remain resilient during this period at the comfort of their own homes. The mental health support measure is also extended to AXA AFFIN’s employees. COVID-19 home testing service is also made available for customers at a nominal fee.

While the battle in flattening the pandemic curve in Malaysia may have shown optimistic progress, the battle is far from over.
