Takaful Malaysia Donates Hearse to Surau At-Taqwa, PPR Jalan Jelatek


Takaful Malaysia, the first Islamic insurance company in Malaysia, has recently donated a new hearse to Surau At-Taqwa, PPR Jalan Jelatek, Kuala Lumpur.

The contribution amounting RM125,000 will benefit the Muslim residents within the neighborhood in facilitating funeral services during the loss of their loved ones. This is part of the company’s sustainability efforts in delivering its brand promise by giving back to the community and contributing towards a caring society.

Incorporated in November 1984, Takaful Malaysia commenced operations in July 1986 and has paid up capital of RM164 million. In accordance with the Islamic Financial Services Act 2013, the company provides two types of Takaful businesses, namely the Family Takaful Business and the General Takaful Business, and has 24 service centres nationwide.

The presentation ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Finance II, Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani who is also the Member of the Parliament (MP) for Titiwangsa constituency.

“We always believe in supporting our local community through charity activities as responsible corporate conduct is a fundamental principle of our company. The donation of the hearse will make burial transportation arrangements easier for the Surau.

“Our commitment to CSR has been an integral part of the company’s corporate culture since the establishment of the company over thirty (30) years ago. We are truly privileged and honored to step in by donating the vehicle that will give a positive impact on the community,” said Dato’ Sri Mohamed Hassan Kamil, Takaful Malaysia’s Group Chief Executive Officer.

Tuan Haji Yeim, chairman of Surau At-Taqwa was delighted to receive the vehicle on behalf of the Surau and mentioned, “This is a great example of a corporate citizen making a difference to the lives of the society. We are very grateful to Takaful Malaysia for their kind donation that will make funeral transportation much convenience for us moving forward.”
